Operative text:
"No one shall use metal detectors on any Mississippi State Park."
No permit exception appears in the rule. The same restriction extends to Wildlife Management Areas.
Scope: Mississippi State Parks under the jurisdiction of the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
Determination: state parks only. Does NOT reach municipal parks.
One wrinkle worth carrying. The regulation notes an exception for Shepard State Park, which is operated by the City of Gautier. A state park run by a municipality is the one place where the state and city layers touch, and any Gautier entry should say so rather than leaving a reader to assume the state rule governs.
